The Uzbek defense industry has introduced a newly modernized version of the T-64B main battle tank. The unveiling was first reported by armored vehicle researcher Andrei Tarasenko, who shared a video of the upgraded model on his Telegram channel.

The official presentation took place at an exhibition in Victory Park, Tashkent, which is being held from May 29 to June 1 this year.

Although the project name and manufacturer have not yet been disclosed, it is presumed that the recently established Semey Engineering company and the Chirchik Armored Vehicle Repair Plant are among those involved. However, the upgrade could also be the work of another domestic enterprise.

The tank's futuristic design is particularly eye-catching. Its entire body is concealed under a protective layer, which may include armored components.

This feature could enhance the tank’s survivability on the modern battlefield, where drones increasingly dominate combat operations.

On the sides of the vehicle, a long panel featuring diagonal squares and grooves is visible. These appear to be decorative rather than functional or protective. The panel conceals much of the tank’s side profile and partially covers the tracks.

The engine and transmission compartments have also been reworked. The exhaust system now features two pipes instead of the previous single flat one, and the radiator grilles have adopted a wavy pattern.

The turret is completely encased in armor. An extension at the rear likely serves as a compartment for equipment storage, air conditioning units, or additional electronic systems.

The gun barrel is also covered, though the practical benefit of this design is unclear. Nevertheless, the cover may offer additional protection from environmental or combat-related hazards.

One of the Ministry of Defense presentations shared by Tarasenko depicts a similarly designed T-64B upgrade. According to the materials, the original 5TDF engine has been replaced with a South Korean-made Doosan DP222LC diesel engine, producing 950 horsepower.

The modernized tank is equipped with new headlights, and a noticeable component resembling a camera suggests that the driver may have access to night-driving equipment.

Interestingly, the traditional T-64B optics and triplex periscopes are missing from the vehicle body. No new external optical stations are present either.

A circular opening on the front of the turret likely serves as a mounting point for optical equipment.

The tank also lacks traditional smoke grenade mortars and NSVT-type machine guns.

According to an infographic from the Uzbek Ministry of Defense, the upgraded T-64B weighs 38.5 tons and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

For comparison, in 2020 the Cherkasy Armored Repair Plant in Ukraine demonstrated a different modernization of the T-64B under the T-64MV index, which included replacing the 5TDF engine with a Russian-made V-84 V-shaped engine.
