It is revealed how many prisoners are kept in the prisons of Uzbekistan

Currently, more than 26,000 prisoners are being held in Uzbekistan's prisons.  This was mentioned at the extended meeting of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

It is noted that 18 of the 54 penal colonies that currently exist in the republic are closed, 25 are address colonies, and 11 are investigative detention centers.

There are more than 26,000 convicts in the penal system, of which more than 8,000 are serving their sentences in penal colonies, and more than 18,000 are serving their sentences in other colonies.
