$100 million will be allocated to train teachers based on the new methodology

Uzbekistan will launch a nationwide project to retrain schoolteachers based on a new methodology. An additional $100 million will be allocated for this purpose. This was stated by the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, today 5 April, at a meeting devoted to the effectiveness of reforms in the field of education.

According to the president, within the framework of this new system, all classroom teachers in schools will be trained with a new method in the next 3-4 years. For this:
- national training centers for teachers will be established on the basis of in-service training centers in each region until June 1;
- the most qualified specialists from abroad in the field of exact and natural sciences, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology will be attracted to these centers;
- with the help of foreign specialists, each region will form «coaching groups» of university professors, national centers of education and mobile groups;
- these instructors will directly train teachers in local schools. They are paid up to 100% raise of the monthly salary.

An additional $100 million will be allocated for the implementation of these new systems. The president noted the experience of Karakalpakstan and Samarkand in this regard.

According to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, mobile teams in Karakalpakstan improved the knowledge and skills of teachers by 15 percent as a result of on-site teacher training within a month. In Samarkand, 420 advanced teachers were selected, and mobile brigades began to train 9,000 teachers in the region.

Also, the Institute of Avloni will also be reorganized into the Republican National Center of Education and will be integrated with the Tashkent State Pedagogical University.

In general, the system of teaching new methods will begin with the National Education Center and the Tashkent State Pedagogical University. The university will become part of the Ministry of National Education and will be designated as the basic institution for the training and retraining of schoolteachers in the country.

Pedagogical universities operating in the regions will gradually separate from universities and develop into independent higher education institutions.
