Russian journalist was found dead in a hotel in Tashkent

Russian journalist Inessa Papernaya, known for her work with "Lenta" and "Profil" magazine, was found dead in a hotel in Tashkent. The incident was reported by "Baza."

According to sources, Papernaya had traveled to Uzbekistan for a vacation and was staying at the Karaman Palace hotel with a companion. On the evening of October 20, she received a piece of mail. When hotel staff knocked on the door and received no response, they decided to open the room. Upon entering, they discovered the lifeless bodies of Papernaya and her friend.

Initial reports suggest that the deaths were caused by gas poisoning, believed to have entered the room through the ventilation system. The gas is suspected to have come from a pipe during the pool cleaning process on the night of October 20.

Following the incident, authorities sealed the Karaman Palace hotel, and investigations are currently ongoing.

QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Hayat Shamsutdinov, a spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office, for further clarification. It was confirmed that on October 20, Russian citizens Maksim Radchenko, born in 1979, and Inessa Viktorovna Papernaya, born in 1977, were found deceased in a hotel in the Mirabad district.

Additionally, an Uzbek citizen, U.Kh., born in 1976, was also found dead in the bathroom of another room in the same hotel. 

According to preliminary medical assessments, the deaths were caused by poisoning of an unknown origin. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 186, Part 4, Clause "a" of the Criminal Code, and investigations are in progress.
