A girl who criticized women who dress openly in Tashkent was fined (video)

24746In February of this year, a video entitled “Women beware” showing an unknown woman wearing a burqa, popular in Arab countries, was circulated on social networks.
The video shows womens' appearances being criticized. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reacted to this video.
It is noted that during the studies conducted in connection with this situation, it was determined that the author of this video is Q.Sh, who was born in Tashkent in 2003, and is studying at one of the higher educational institutions in the capital. On the 2 March of this year, the activity of the Internal Affairs body of Shaikhontohur district invited the author to the coordination office.
During the interview, the citizen expressed his opinion about the appearance of women on social networks based on his personal religious views using materials taken from one of the foreign sitess. Now, he is engaged in sewing and selling non-traditional women’s clothing (burqa) shown in the video at home.
“According to the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Guarantees of Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men”, indirect discrimination based on gender, i.e. putting individuals of one gender at a disadvantage compared to individuals of the other gender create situations, circumstances or criteria, including the promotion of gender inequality through the media, education, culture, allowing the establishment of conditions or requirements that may lead to negative consequences for individuals of a particular gender. Article 29 of this law stipulates responsibility for violating the legislation on guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men,” the message reads.
It is noted that while following the norms and rules of behavior accepted in the society, people cannot judge others through their religious and moral views or interfere in their personal life in any other way.
According to Article 10 of the law “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations”, the preparation and distribution of materials of religious content on the territory of the country is carried out after receiving a positive conclusion of theological expertise. According to Article 5 of this law, one of the main priorities of ensuring freedom of conscience in the country is to fight against the indoctrination and dissemination of religious ideas and views that threaten public order, health and morals, rights and freedoms of citizens," the message added.
In this regard, court authorities imposed a fine of 50 times the base calculation amount (15 million soms) against citizen Q.Sh under Article 1842 of the Criminal Code (Illegal preparation, storage, import or distribution of materials of religious content.)
