A 20-year-old man in Tashkent has been sentenced to seven years in prison for distributing narcotics and psychotropic substances. The case was reported by the capital’s Department of Internal Affairs.
The individual, identified as A.N., responded to a job advertisement on Telegram offering high wages on September 30, 2023. Following instructions from the admin, he traveled to a location in the Yukori Chirchik district, Tashkent region, to collect narcotics. He then divided the substances into portions and delivered them to clients based on the admin’s messages.
During the investigation, A.N. admitted that he realized his actions were criminal and attempted to quit. However, the admin threatened to expose personal information about him and his family and sent videos of brutal punishments inflicted on others who had refused to cooperate. Fearing retaliation, A.N. continued distributing narcotics and psychotropic substances.
On October 2, 2023, A.N. was apprehended by officers from the Uchtepa district’s Internal Affairs Department. He was caught near a shopping complex where he was supposed to meet clients, deliver the “goods,” and collect payment. His suspicious behavior, including abruptly changing his route upon noticing officers, drew their attention.
Upon inspection, officers found an electronic scale and three plastic bags containing dried, ground substances with a strong odor in his bag. The items were documented in the presence of witnesses.
During an open court session at the Uchtepa District Criminal Court, A.N. was found guilty under Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code (illegal preparation, possession, and distribution of narcotics or psychotropic substances). He was sentenced to seven years in prison under Article 57 of the Criminal Code.
On April 19, 2025, a separate incident in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district involved a Lacetti driver under the influence of narcotics, causing a road accident.
