Today, May 28, a fire broke out on a shunting diesel locomotive used for auxiliary operations to pull the Afrosiyob electric train in Tashkent. This was reported by Uzbekistan Railways Joint Stock Company.

It was confirmed that the fire affected only the shunting diesel locomotive, which assists in moving the train. The Afrosiyob train itself was not damaged and is scheduled to continue its regular service tomorrow as planned.

Despite social media reports claiming that there were passengers on the train at the time of the fire, Uzbekistan Railways clarified that these reports are false.

“The incident occurred outside of regular service, and there were no passengers on the train,” the company stated.

Specialists promptly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

Earlier, a fire was reported at a propane gas filling station in the Olot district of Bukhara region.
