Drug couriers detained in Tashkent and Fergana (video)

Individuals involved in delivering narcotic substances to buyers were detained in Tashkent and the Fergana region. This was reported by the State Security Service.

According to the report, during a joint оператив operation conducted by the Tashkent City Directorate of the State Security Service and officers of the city’s Main Department of Internal Affairs, a man born in 1992 and permanently registered in Zafarobod district of Jizzakh region was detained in Bektemir district while planning to place drug stashes. During a search, law enforcement officers found 6 grams of hashish and 5 grams of mephedrone on him, which were seized and documented in accordance with procedure.

The operation was then continued. A search of a newly built residential house in Tashkent district of Tashkent region, where the suspect was working as a craftsman, revealed a total of 1.7 kilograms of hashish and 500 grams of mephedrone, which were taken as material evidence. In addition, 800 grams of the synthetic drug mephedrone were found at his place of permanent residence in Zafarobod district.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 25 and Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage and other actions involving narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances with intent to distribute, as well as their illegal sale). A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied. Investigative measures are underway to identify other accomplices.

In a separate case in the Fergana region, a Spark vehicle traveling toward Qo‘shtepa district was stopped and inspected in Toshloq district during a joint operation by officers of the State Security Service and internal affairs bodies. As a result, 969 grams of hashish brought from the Kyrgyz Republic were found in a children’s bag belonging to a passenger, a resident of Qo‘shtepa district born in 2007.

During the pre-investigation check, it was established that the actual owner of the drugs was a resident of Fergana city born in 2006. He was subsequently detained.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects under Article 25 and Article 273, Part 5 of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier, it was reported that individuals attempting to smuggle more than 19 kilograms of hashish across the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan border had been detained.
