A UNESCO regional center will be opened in Tashkent

4139President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay, within the framework of the World Conference on Education and Training of Young Children occurring in Tashkent on 15 November, held a meeting.
Practical aspects of expanding constructive and effective cooperation between Uzbekistan and this prestigious institution of the UN system were discussed.
Today's level of productive partnership was noted with satisfaction. Joint programs and projects are being implemented by the country program and the adopted "Road map".
For the first time, Uzbekistan was elected a member of the International Committee for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Bakhshchilik art and Lazgi dance were included in the list of intangible cultural heritage.
The "Khiva Process" on the activities of the international advisory committee on the protection of historical heritage sites and regional humanitarian cooperation was launched in Uzbekistan.
UNESCO also provides technical support for the development of the professional education system in rural areas of Uzbekistan.
In addition, joint events are regularly held in the priority areas of cooperation.
At the meeting, Audrey Azule highly appreciated the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan in terms of youth support, upbringing, and education of children and noted that they are the most effective when compared internationally.
The general director congratulated the Tashkent international conference on the development of preschool education.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of the New Country program. It was agreed to open a UNESCO regional center in Tashkent, as well as to prepare and adopt an updated "Road map" for the promotion of joint initiatives and advanced projects within the framework of effective cooperation.
