Tashkent is placed in the top ten in the "Cost of living" ratings, compiled by the company "Mercer" because for foreigners, it proves to be the cheapest destination for a city stay.

Ankara, Bishkek, and Dushanbe are among the three cheapest cities for foreigners.  The top ten included Algiers, Tunis, Istanbul, Karachi, Islamabad, Almaty, and Tashkent.

The rating does not include the capital of Turkmenistan Ashkhabad and Russian cities.

Hong Kong is recognized as the most expensive city for foreigners to live in.  The ten most expensive cities include Tel Aviv, New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, and four Swiss cities: Zurich, Geneva, Basel, and Bern.

The rating is based on a survey of foreign specialists working in major cities of the world.

The authors ranked cities by the cost of more than 200 goods and services, including housing, public transport, food, clothing, and entertainment.
