Uzbekistan railways confirms electrocution incident at Poitug station

Footage of the incident has been widely shared on social media, prompting official clarification from Uzbekistan Railways JSC.

According to the company, the incident occurred on June 10 at Poitug station in the Andijan region. A foreign national unlawfully entered the station premises and climbed onto an empty railway tank truck positioned on the second track.

The individual received a high-voltage electric shock from the overhead contact line and fell to the ground. The station duty officer responded immediately and called an ambulance.

The injured man was given urgent medical assistance and transported to a hospital for further treatment.

This follows a separate fatal incident on June 8 in the Samarkand region, where employees of a private company died from electric shock while installing a security camera in a store in the Tayloq district.
