3527Motorized vehicles are now permitted in water bodies across Uzbekistan. On September 4, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision titled "On Further Improvement of the Procedure for the Use of Motorized (Internal Combustion Engine) and Electromotive Water Vehicles in Water Bodies and Measures to Ensure Citizen Safety."
According to the decision, starting May 1, 2025, natural and artificial water bodies will be equipped with automatic speed reduction equipment (except motor boats with a maximum speed of no more than 40 km/h). GPS equipment will also be installed, and national GPS monitoring will be implemented. Motorized and electromotive water vehicles connected to the navigation system will be permitted.
The maximum allowable speed for water vehicles will be 40 km/h, with reduced speeds of 20 km/h in ship parking areas and residential zones, and 5 km/h near beaches and public recreation areas.
Additionally, from this date forward, annual compensation payments will be required for environmental pollution caused by the use of water transport vehicles (excluding electromotive water vehicles). The compensation amounts are as follows:
- 10 times the base calculation amount (BCA) for motorboats and hydro cycles
- 15 times the BCA for boats
- 25 times the BCA for yachts
Motor water vehicles will also be subject to annual technical inspections, which will require proof of compensation payment. The funds collected from these payments will be directed to the Ecology Fund and used to finance measures aimed at preventing water body pollution.
