A cadastral officer from the Oltinsoy district of Surkhandarya region has been caught accepting a bribe of 300 million soums in connection with an illegal land sale. The incident was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the report, a citizen identified as M.N. and an engineer of the Oltinsoy district cadastral chamber, A.N., conspired to deceive another citizen, A.Y. They allegedly gained his trust and agreed to sell him a 65-hectare plot of land from the state reserve located in the "Ipoq" neighborhood in Oltinsoy district for 1.1 billion soums.
During a swift operation conducted in coordination with the Denov district department and the Internal Affairs Directorate, M.N. and A.N. were caught red-handed while receiving 300 million soums in cash as part of the deal. Material evidence was collected at the scene.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Articles 168 (fraud) and 28, 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigations are currently underway.
It is worth noting that a similar incident took place earlier in the Akkurgan district of the Tashkent region, where a cadastral officer was detained for demanding $1,200 in exchange for granting permission to build a house on illegally occupied land.
