A young man who had fought alongside terrorists in Syria has been repatriated to Uzbekistan

8749Uzbekistan's State Security Service has initiated a criminal case against an individual affiliated with a terrorist group in Syria.
The individual, born in the Jizzakh region in 2000, established contact with a member of the terrorist organization "Secretary of Monotheism and Jihad" online, expressing intent to join their ranks.
Following instructions from his online contact to evade law enforcement, he purchased a plane ticket for departure in June 2023, despite the steep cost, and traveled to Istanbul.
Upon arrival, he proceeded to Syria via Turkey, where he underwent ideological and military training with the terrorist organization "Secretary of Tawhid and Jihad." However, he sustained serious injuries during military operations conducted by Syrian government forces.
After recuperating, he became involved in the economic activities of the terrorist organization. In December 2023, he was apprehended while clandestinely crossing from Syria to a neighboring country for medical treatment and subsequently repatriated to Uzbekistan.
The State Security Service has charged him under Criminal Code 155-2 (involvement in terrorist activities through study, travel, or relocation) and 244-2 (involvement in creating or participating in prohibited extremist or separatist organizations) and imposed pretrial detention as a preventive measure.
It's worth mentioning that the Andijan Regional Police Department has been searching for Qodiraliyev, Islomiddin who traveled to Syria via Turkey and participated in combat activities.
