State to pay contract fees for children of medical workers

Starting from 2026, the state will cover 30 percent of the tuition fees for children of doctors and pharmacists with at least 15 years of work experience in the public sector who study at state higher education institutions. This is stated in the presidential decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev titled ’’On measures to support medical and pharmaceutical workers.’’

According to the decree, beginning in 2026, employees of state medical institutions will receive a bonus equivalent to the minimum wage each year in honor of Medical Workers’ Day.

The funds will be provided from the Material Incentive and Development Fund of medical institutions.

In connection with the professional holiday celebrated on the second Sunday of November every year, competitions will be held in the following categories:

  • Best Head of a Republican Hospital
  • Best Head of a Regional Health Authority
  • Best Head of a District (City) Health Authority
  • Best Head of a Family Polyclinic
  • Best District (City) Doctor
  • Best District (City) Nurse
  • Best Family Polyclinic
  • Best District (City) Hospital
  • Best Regional Hospital

The winners will be awarded one-time cash prizes funded by the State Targeted Fund for the Development of Medicine. Medical institutions will receive 500 million soums, while individual medical and administrative workers will be awarded 30 million soums each.

In addition, the competition winners will be nominated for state awards and recommended for study at foreign educational and scientific institutions under management and other modern programs financed by the same fund.

Furthermore, starting from April 1, 2026, state medical institutions will shift to a five-day work week. To ensure uninterrupted operations, duty schedules will be established for weekends and holidays.

At the same time, beginning January 1 of this year, medical workers who have passed national accreditation will receive a monthly supplement equal to 10 percent of their base salary.

Medical and pharmaceutical workers with at least three years of experience in state medical institutions will be eligible to receive high-tech specialized medical care free of charge once a year, funded by the state budget.

Physicians who introduce new treatment methods at the district (city) level and achieve positive results will be awarded a one-time bonus equal to 50 times the base calculation rate, financed by the Fund for the Development of Medicine.

Expenses related to the publication of scientific articles by medical and pharmaceutical specialists in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals indexed in international scientific and technical databases will be fully reimbursed.

In addition, all employees will pay only half the regular fees for all types of state services.

Medical and pharmaceutical workers with at least 15 years of experience in state medical institutions will have the state cover 30 percent of their children’s annual tuition fees for undergraduate studies at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan. However, the compensated amount will not exceed 15 times the base calculation rate.

Each year, 500 medical and pharmaceutical workers with at least 15 years of service in state medical institutions will receive state support for housing. Specifically, 25 percent of the initial payment for housing purchased through a mortgage loan will be covered by the state.

Employees with at least 15 years of experience will also be provided with a free annual voucher to sanatoriums within the country, funded by the Federation of Trade Unions and the respective medical institution.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has been instructed to allocate an additional 100 billion soums annually to the Fund for the Development of Medicine starting from 2026, with indexation, to finance these measures.
