On February 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Ohangaron district of Tashkent region and reviewed the activities of Enco Group, a company specializing in the production of high-voltage cable products. This was reported by the presidential press service.

Large-scale work is underway in Uzbekistan to modernize the energy sector, build new power plants and substations, upgrade main transmission networks, and expand the use of renewable energy sources.

The growing economy and population are increasing demand for electricity, which in turn requires the development of high-voltage transmission networks. As a result, stable demand for high-voltage cable products has formed in both domestic and foreign markets.

Enco Group, established to meet this demand, is being built in cooperation with Belarus’s Energokomplekt company in the Eltech Industrial Technopark on a 21-hectare site. The total project cost is about $60 million, and the enterprise is expected to create around 600 new jobs once it reaches full capacity.

The project is being implemented in two phases. The enterprise is expected to produce 25,000 tons of products annually, with export potential estimated at $300 million.

Construction of the first phase is currently 98 percent complete, with more than $10 million already invested. The company plans to export products to Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, and CIS countries, with preliminary estimates putting annual export volumes at $140 million.

Last year, Uzbekistan imported nearly $400 million worth of high-voltage cable products and insulated copper busbars. Once the plant is fully operational, it is expected to produce import-substituting products worth $150 million.

Of the 12 enterprises in Central Asia operating in this field, four are located in Uzbekistan, indicating that the country’s electrotechnical industry is gradually becoming a high value-added sector.

The president was presented with plans for the company’s future development, including expanding production capacity, increasing product range, and boosting localization levels.

He instructed officials to strengthen industrial cooperation, use local raw materials more efficiently, introduce advanced technologies, and further expand the production of competitive export-oriented products.
