Today, January 14, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed a congratulatory message to military personnel on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the country’s Armed Forces and Defender of the Motherland Day.

“Dear soldiers and sergeants, officers and generals! Esteemed veterans of our Armed Forces! Dear compatriots! First of all, I sincerely congratulate you and our entire multinational people on the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Defender of the Motherland Day,” the President said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also expressed deep respect and gratitude on this auspicious occasion to the defenders of the Motherland who have devoted their lives to the honorable and responsible duty of protecting the country, remaining faithful to their military oath and safeguarding Uzbekistan’s independence and territorial integrity.

“At the same time, we pay profound tribute to the memory of our brave sons who heroically lost their lives while fulfilling their sacred duty to the Motherland. Today, our people are achieving major successes and milestones on the path toward building a New Uzbekistan. It is an undeniable truth that our valiant Armed Forces—and you personally—have made a worthy contribution to the historic transformations taking place across all sectors of our lives. We regard you as the worthy successors of our great ancestors’ traditions and take rightful pride in your dedication to the Motherland, your fearlessness toward the enemy, and your constant vigilance and readiness in the ranks,” the President said.

The President also took the opportunity to express sincere gratitude to the parents who raised such courageous, brave, and devoted sons for the nation, as well as to the families who share every joy and hardship alongside military personnel during their service.

“In recent years, within the framework of the ‘Uzbekistan – 2030’ strategy, we have been carrying out large-scale efforts to strengthen the military power of our Armed Forces, which are becoming one of the firm guarantees of our irreversible reforms. In particular, command and logistics systems are being improved and modernized based on advanced information technologies, while our troops are being reinforced with well-trained and educated officers and sergeants,” the President noted.

He added that the level of readiness of personnel, as well as the professional, intellectual, and moral capacity of servicemen, is being consistently enhanced. The Armed Forces are being gradually equipped with modern weapons and military hardware. Effective efforts to increase young people’s interest in military service, foster patriotism, and further strengthen unity and solidarity between the people and the army are also being firmly continued.

“We are all witnessing the rapid changes taking place on the world’s political and military map. In various regions, the geopolitical situation is becoming increasingly complex, with conflicts and bloody confrontations intensifying. Modern technologies and new generations of weapons are emerging, and strategies and tactics of warfare are constantly evolving. Taking this situation into account, we will continue to modernize combat and command methods in line with contemporary requirements and place special emphasis on training highly qualified military personnel,” the President said.

He stressed that continuously strengthening the combat spirit and physical readiness of servicemen, as well as instilling a strong sense of patriotism in their hearts, will remain among the country’s top priorities. According to the President, the outcome of any struggle is ultimately determined by the knowledge, skills, willpower, determination, self-confidence, and courage of personnel.

The President also emphasized that equipping the national army with modern weapons and military equipment, including artificial intelligence-based robotic systems, as well as expanding the use of advanced information technologies in command and decision-making processes, will remain a key focus. Efforts to enhance social protection for military personnel and their families and to improve their living standards will be intensified, with particular importance attached to the active participation of state institutions, civil society, and the broader public.

“Every serviceman must always feel that the army and the people are one, that behind them stands a nation of 38 million as a solid support. Drawing strength and inspiration from this, our brave soldiers—heirs to fearless and resolute ancestors who never bowed before enemies—will continue to honorably fulfill their sacred duty to the Motherland,” the President said.

“In these emotional moments, I once again sincerely congratulate each of you on today’s holiday and wish you and your families good health, happiness, and great success in your noble service to strengthening our country’s defense capability. May you never tire on the path of defending our beloved Motherland, and may achievements and victories always accompany you,” Mirziyoyev concluded.

It is worth noting that earlier, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree awarding a group of military personnel and law enforcement officers in connection with the 34th anniversary of the establishment of Uzbekistan’s Armed Forces and Defender of the Motherland Day.
