Uzhydromet issues urgent mudflow warning

Mudflows and flash floods may occur in foothill and mountainous areas of Uzbekistan due to expected rainfall from May 8 to 12 this year. Uzhydromet issued an urgent warning about this.
In particular, mudflows and flash floods may occur in the following areas:
- Qashqadaryo Region: Yakkabog, Dehqonobod, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi and G‘uzor districts;
- Surxondaryo Region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Sho‘rchi, Qumqo‘rg‘on and Muzrobot districts;
- Samarqand Region: Urgut, Samarqand, Bulung‘ur, Nurobod, Qo‘shrabot, Kattaqo‘rg‘on, Payariq, Jomboy and Ishtixon districts;
- Navoiy Region: Xatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimex and Karmana districts;
- Jizzakh Region: Zomin, Baxmal, G‘allaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish and Yangiobod districts;
- Tashkent Region: Ohangaron, Bo‘stonliq, Parkent, Piskent, O‘rtachirchiq and Yuqorichirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
- Namangan Region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan and Yangiqo‘rg‘on districts;
- Fergana Region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana and Beshariq districts;
- Andijan Region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qo‘rg‘ontepa, Paxtaobod, Izboskan, Xo‘jaobod and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.
Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, holidaymakers and drivers traveling through mountainous areas have been urged to take precautions.
Rainwater may accumulate in some parts of the country, which could lead to flooding in certain areas.
