Flood risk warning issued by Uzhydromet

Heavy rainfall expected between April 14 and 17 may lead to mudflows and flash floods in foothill and mountainous areas of Uzbekistan, according to an urgent warning issued by Uzhydromet.
In particular, the following areas are at risk:
- In Kashkadarya region — Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi and Guzar districts;
- In Surkhandarya region — Sariosiyo, Uzun, Altinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan and Muzrabot districts;
- In Samarkand region — Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy and Ishtikhan districts;
- In Navoi region — Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimex and Karmana districts;
- In Jizzakh region — Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Forish and Yangiabad districts;
- In Tashkent region — Ohangaron, Bostanlik, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchik and Yukorichirchik districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk;
- In Namangan region — Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan and Yangikurgan districts;
- In Fergana region — Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana and Besharik districts;
- In Andijan region — Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduk, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.
Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, tourists, and drivers traveling through these regions are advised to take precautionary measures. Rainwater accumulation is also possible in some areas, which may lead to localized flooding.
