A fire broke out at a cemetery located in the Ishtikhon district of Samarkand region on August 24 this year, the regional department of Emergency Situations reported.

It was reported that at 17:10, through the “112” system, the Samarkand regional department of Emergency Situations received information about a fire at the “Polvon ota” cemetery located in the “Topor” neighborhood of Ishtikhon district. Two fire-rescue crews were dispatched to the scene and arrived at 17:30. The fire was completely extinguished by 19:00.

It was stated that dry grass on approximately 50 acres of the cemetery area was burned as a result of the fire. No casualties were reported. At present, a pre-investigation inquiry is being conducted.

It is worth noting that earlier, a fire erupted at the “Mavlono” cemetery in Yangi Namangan, Namangan region. As a result, 50 square meters of the cemetery area were burned and damaged.
