Individuals who illicitly extracted a total of 13,100 cubic meters of marble were apprehended in the Ishtikhon district of the Samarkand region. This was reported by the General Prosecutor's Office on April 24.

It is noted that officials from JSC "Zarband (1978)" marble mine extracted more marble than the permitted quota, resulting in 5.1 billion soums in damage to natural resources.

"In response to this situation, a criminal case has been launched under Article 192-11 (abuse of authority by officials in a non-governmental commercial organization or other non-governmental organization) and Article 229 (arbitrariness) of the Criminal Code, and investigative procedures are underway," the statement reads.

It's worth recalling that previously in the Pakhtachi district of the Samarkand region, individuals engaged in illegal extraction of gold-containing ore stones were apprehended.
