On June 19, the Chkalov District Court of the Sverdlovsk Region, Russia, issued a ruling to arrest an Uzbek national accused of kidnapping a minor. The regional court shared the details in an official statement.

According to the court decision, the Uzbek citizen has been charged under Part 2, Subparagraph “d” of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation—kidnapping of a minor. The court approved the investigator’s request and imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention for 1 month and 30 days, until August 15.

Local media reported that the suspect took a 14-year-old girl from Yekaterinburg to the city of Chelyabinsk. The girl had been missing and was on the wanted list for two weeks.

The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken the case under his personal supervision and instructed Bogdan Francisk, head of the Sverdlovsk regional committee, to provide regular updates on the progress and findings of the investigation.

It should be noted that earlier in St. Petersburg, Russian police detained another Uzbek citizen suspected of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
