President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, July 4, reviewed the work carried out on Yangi Sergeli Street in the Ittifoq mahalla of Sergeli district, as well as the activities of trade and service facilities there. The presidential press service reported this.

It was noted that the tourism and service sectors play an important role in creating many jobs with relatively low costs, increasing household incomes and improving the appearance of neighborhoods.

It was reported that tourism, trade and service facilities operating around the clock on Yangi Sergeli Street are helping create convenient conditions for residents, develop entrepreneurship and open new jobs.

The total cost of the project is 18.7 billion soums. The infrastructure of a 2.1-kilometer section of the street has been fully improved, turning it into a 24/7 area that includes trade, public catering and entertainment services.

To support recreation and a healthy lifestyle for residents, more than 10 children’s playgrounds, eight workout zones, a bookstore and a center for elderly residents have been established.

According to the data, more than 21,000 people live in four mahallas surrounding the area. An average of 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles pass along Yangi Sergeli Street every day. Once the project is fully launched, it will be able to serve more than 1.2 million visitors a year.

It was emphasized that more than 250 new jobs have been created under the project. The activities of 95 existing business entities have been expanded, and 22 new business entities have been established.

The head of state walked through the mahalla and familiarized himself with homes renovated in a national architectural style, improved streets and the conveniences created for residents. He also held a sincere conversation with mahalla activists and citizens.

It was noted that the President took interest in how the ongoing work is affecting the living standards and well-being of residents. Mahalla activists said these changes are having a positive impact on people’s mood, lifestyle and income, while both the appearance of the area and people’s confidence in the future are changing.
