Pezeshkiyan promises to strengthen relations with Uzbekistan

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkiyan pledged to enhance relations between Tehran and Tashkent during a meeting with Nurdinjon Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the IRNA news agency.

On July 30, during a meeting with Ismoilov, who was in Tehran for the inauguration of Iran's 14th President, Pezeshkiyan underscored the significance of neighboring countries in Iran's foreign policy, highlighting the deep, strategic relations with Uzbekistan, which are rooted in shared cultural and historical ties.

Pezeshkiyan stated that the 14th Iranian government aims to expand relations with Uzbekistan, particularly in trade, economy, and culture, and asserted that no obstacles will deter their commitment.

"The President of Iran cited numerous bilateral agreements as evidence of the deepening relations and affirmed the 14th government's dedication to implementing these agreements," the report noted.

Additionally, Ismoilov reiterated his congratulations to Pezeshkiyan on his electoral victory and expressed Tashkent's interest in developing and expanding cooperation with Iran.

"Uzbekistan regards Iran as a key and strategic partner in the region and expressed hope that the implementation of agreements between the two countries will further strengthen bilateral relations," the report stated.
