As part of his state visit to France, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, on March 13. This was reported by the President’s press service.

At the beginning of their conversation, President Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mayor Hidalgo for the successful hosting of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also expressed his gratitude for the decision to name one of the streets of Paris after Samarkand.

In return, Anne Hidalgo thanked President Mirziyoyev for Uzbekistan’s assistance in ensuring public safety during the Olympic events.

The meeting highlighted the historic outcomes of the visit, noting with great satisfaction that bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and France had elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.

The two leaders discussed ways to intensify practical cooperation and exchanges between Tashkent and Paris, based on the agreements signed during the visit.

“Key areas of focus included urban planning, the creation of green spaces, public transport development, digitalization, and the exchange of experiences in modernizing urban communications and ensuring their sustainable use,” the report stated.

Additionally, the two sides discussed organizing mutual exhibitions, cultural and art events, tourism, and gastronomic festivals.

At the end of the meeting, an official ceremony was held to commemorate the naming of one of the streets in Paris after Samarkand.

President Mirziyoyev and Mayor Hidalgo signed a joint document recognizing the President’s visit to Paris as an honorary guest. A commemorative plaque will be displayed in the City Hall museum.

It is worth recalling that earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a state reception in honor of President Mirziyoyev at the Élysée Palace.
