17450On May 8, Mubashir Ahmed, also known as Alisher Tursunov—the founder of the information and analytical portal "Azon Global"—was detained from his residence in the Bahçeşehir district of Istanbul. The news was confirmed by "Azon Global" itself.
According to the report, a preliminary investigation was carried out the same day in the presence of his legal representatives. Lawyers were informed that after the investigation, Tursunov would be transferred to the Istanbul Deportation Center and released the following day.
“However, despite four days having passed, the Immigration Department has not provided any information regarding his whereabouts, health status, or legal process to either his lawyers or family members,” the portal reported.
The outlet emphasized that, under Turkish law, families of detained individuals must be informed, and the individual must be allowed to maintain communication with relatives.
“His family and loved ones are understandably anxious, especially since even his lawyers have not received any updates or been told where he is being held. Mubashir Ahmed has long suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure, requiring regular insulin and medication,” "Azon Global" added.
It is worth noting that Mubashir Ahmed had previously been listed as wanted. Initially, it was reported that Alisher Akhmadovich Tursunov was sought under Part 1 of Article 244²-1 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (Creation, leadership, or participation in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist, or other prohibited organizations). However, it was later revealed that this was a technical error during the data entry process into the Main Center for Legal Statistics and Operational Information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In reality, the criminal case against him was initiated under Article 244³ of the Criminal Code (Illegal preparation, storage, import, or distribution of materials of religious content).
