Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov agreed to develop transport corridors

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held extended negotiations with the participation of the delegations of the two countries.

The head of state noted with great satisfaction that multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is steadily expanding in all directions.

"For thousands of years, the Uzbek and Turkmen peoples have lived side by side and supported each other," says Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The fact that the heads of state are meeting for the sixth time in a few months is clear proof of the special relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

President Mirziyoyev noted that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People's Consultation of the National Council of Turkmenistan, made a great contribution to the formation of a strong foundation of today's rapidly developing cooperation between the two countries.

It was noted that the economy serves as the leading force of bilateral relations, and it is necessary to make more efforts to use the great potential of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.  In recent years, mutual trade has been growing rapidly.

It was noted that the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan Pre-Border Trade Zone will serve to further expand relations between business circles and create new jobs in the regions.  Today, the heads of state will start the construction of this zone.

The parties paid special attention to the development of cooperation projects. It was agreed to strengthen work on the formation and implementation of new projects in priority sectors such as industry, energy, chemical industry, and agriculture.

The transport sector is one of the strategic areas of cooperation.  The heads of state agreed to actively develop transport corridors in the "East-West" and "North-South" directions, including using the opportunities of Turkmenbashi port.

It was noted with satisfaction that the two countries are cooperating at a high level in the water sector.  The agreement on the Amudarya, signed in Tashkent, is being implemented on a large scale.

Among the priority areas - are a further expansion of interregional relations and a strengthening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.  The presidents noted the need to activate exchanges in the fields of science, education, art, cinema, and tourism.

Next year, culture and cinema days and youth festivals will be held in both countries with the participation of all regions.

The signing of a Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership is an important factor in achieving the set goals.

"We believe that our joint efforts will strengthen friendship and good neighborliness and serve the development of the two countries," said the leader of Uzbekistan at the end of the talks.
