On June 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the site of the Tashkent-Sharqiy airport to inspect the ongoing reconstruction work. The visit was reported by the press service of the President.

The reconstruction of the airport is progressing in several stages. The first stage included the renovation of a 4-kilometer runway, which is now capable of accommodating even the heaviest aircraft. Currently, construction is underway on two terminals, aprons, and hangars intended for high-ranking guests and business aviation.

The airport is being equipped with advanced radio engineering and meteorological systems that meet ICAO category III-A standards. This will allow aircraft to take off and land even in adverse weather conditions. In addition, closed hangars will ensure the safe and secure storage of aircraft.

According to officials, the airport’s convenient location will provide a significant advantage to the capital and the emerging New Tashkent area. It is also expected to enhance the tourism potential of the Tashkent region.

During the visit, the head of state was presented with a detailed overview of the airport’s technical specifications and terminal designs. President Mirziyoyev instructed relevant officials to accelerate the construction process and create favorable conditions for attracting investment to the project.
