Mirziyoyev meets with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif

On July 4, during the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in the Azerbaijani city of Khonjendi, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported the meeting.
The discussion focused on pressing issues related to further expanding and strengthening the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership, based on the adopted “roadmap.”
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of dialogue at various levels.
Special attention was given to accelerating joint projects and programs in trade, economy, investment, and transport and communications, including advancing the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway.
The leaders emphasized the importance of effectively organizing the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the business forum scheduled for this year.
Mirziyoyev and Sharif also exchanged views on key international and regional developments.
As a reminder, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev earlier addressed the ECO summit, voicing concern over ongoing military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning that such actions risk plunging the region into a large-scale war and triggering an ecological disaster.
