On September 23, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with King Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein of Jordan on the sidelines of the anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements reached during King Abdullah II’s high-level visit to Uzbekistan in August this year.

Special attention was given to taking joint measures to accelerate the implementation of priority investment projects with the participation of leading companies from both Uzbekistan and Jordan.

It should be noted that during the King’s visit to Uzbekistan in August, the two sides adopted a joint statement on strengthening partnership relations and signed 15 bilateral documents. As part of the state visit, King Abdullah II awarded President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the Order of An-Nahda (“Renaissance”) of Jordan, and the two leaders took part in a joint tree-planting ceremony following the Uzbekistan–Jordan summit.

It is worth noting that on the same day, September 23, President Mirziyoyev held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Albanian President Bajram Begaj.
