On July 3, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the city of Fuzuli as part of his state visit to Azerbaijan.
The Uzbek president was welcomed at the airport by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture, Odil Kerimli, and other officials.

Fuzuli, named after the renowned Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fuzuli, is located in the southwestern part of Azerbaijan and is traditionally considered the "southern gate" of Karabakh.
Since 2020, a large-scale reconstruction program has been underway in the Fuzuli district and city. Key developments include the commissioning of the modern Fuzuli airport in 2021, alongside the construction of new residential complexes, medical and educational facilities, and infrastructure projects.
In August 2023, the leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan inaugurated a modern school named after Mirzo Ulugbek in Fuzuli. The school was built at the initiative of President Mirziyoyev as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the two fraternal nations.
Later today, Presidents Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev are scheduled to visit a joint garment factory in Khonkendy and the historical and architectural complex "Imorat" in the city of Agdam.
