Presidential decree paves the way for enhanced statistical efficiency in Uzbekistan

The Statistical Agency under the President of Uzbekistan will be reorganized as the National Statistical Committee. This change is outlined in the Presidential Decree “On Additional Measures to Bring the System of Organization and Conduct of Statistical Work to a New Level.”

According to the Decree, several priority areas for enhancing the efficiency of statistical work have been identified, including:

• Improving the system of statistical observation at macroeconomic and sectoral levels and aligning methodologies with international standards and recommendations.
• Reducing the number of statistical reports and lessening the reporting burden on businesses by expanding integration processes.
• Ensuring the reliability of data by creating a system for forming statistical indicators based on the principle of “from neighborhood to republic.”

The “Regional Statistics” information system is set to launch by the end of 2025. Beginning from the reporting period at the end of this year, the requirement for micro-firms and small enterprises with fewer than five employees and annual revenue of up to 2,000 times the gross domestic product to submit annual statistical reports has been abolished. Instead, these businesses will submit statistical reports once every three years.
