7041In March this year, a sharp drop in temperature and heavy precipitation occurred due to the influx of cold and humid air into the country. Experts in the Ministry of Agriculture announced the results of a preliminary study on the influence of adverse weather conditions.
They stated that cold and precipitation in some areas partially affected the bud branches in the gardens. The country’s vineyards, early potatoes and vegetables were not affected by the cold.
The analysis of the data received by regions is as follows:
In the Fergana Valley, the early apricot sorts: 19 percent in Andijan, 10 percent in Namangan and 18 percent in Fergana, early cherry sorts: 2.4 percent in Namangan, early almond sorts: 17 percent in Andijan, 19 percent in Namangan and 23 percent in Fergana;

“According to scientific sources, the degree of frost resistance of trees depends on the biological features of the type and sort of fruit. Therefore, depending on the types and varieties of gardens, in April-May of the current year, the expected gross harvest of trees in the fruiting phase will be put into approbation and the volume of harvest will be determined. It should be noted that today agronomists are working on the creation of early-ripe and frost-resistant fruit sorts», – the report of the Ministry said.
It was noted that in the first 30 days of March this year, 77,000 hectares of orchards (22%) (apricots, peaches, almonds, cherries) on 338 thousand hectares (in 248 thousand hectares of farms, 90 thousand hectares in the public lands) blossomed and 42,000 hectares (23%) of 182,000 hectares of vineyards (130,000 hectares on farms, 52,000 hectares in the lands of population) sprouted from the soil and grew buds.
In order to protect these gardens and vineyards from the cold in areas with temperatures below +2 degrees, from 17 to 23 March, 74.4 thousand hectares of gardens and vineyards were watered, in 117.4 thousand hectares hay, straw, and tree limbs were collected and burned. In addition, 8,404 hectares of gardens were treated with special preparations to delay the flowering phase.
On the night of 22-23 March, 2,100 hectares of land were watered and hay and straw were collected and burned to warm up early vegetable and potato fields.
