Ethnic composition of the population in Central Asia  

The ethnic composition of the population in Central Asian countries has been revealed. This was reported by Central Asia.

As of January 1, 2025, Kazakhstan's population was 20,286,084 people.  

By the beginning of 2024, with a population of 20,033,546, Kazakhs made up 70.98%, totaling 14.2 million people.  

Other major ethnic groups in Kazakhstan:  
- Russians – 2.98 million people (14.89%)  
- Uzbeks – 660.6 thousand people (3.3%)  
- Ukrainians – 375.9 thousand people (1.88%)  
- Uyghurs – 301.6 thousand people (1.51%)  
- Germans – 1.12% of the population  
- Tatars – 1.11%  
- Azerbaijanis – 0.76%  
- Koreans – 0.60%  
- Turks – 0.45%  
- Dungans – 0.42%  

As of July 1, 2024, the permanent population of Kyrgyzstan was 7,219,000 people.  

At the beginning of 2022, when the population was 6.7 million, Kyrgyz people accounted for 4.9 million.

As of January 1, 2021, with a population of 34.6 million, Uzbeks made up 84.4%, or 29.2 million people.

According to the 2010 census, when the population was 7 million, the ethnic composition was as follows:  
- Tajiks – 82.3% (6.17 million people)  
- Uzbeks – 12.2% (926.3 thousand people)  
- Kyrgyz – 0.8% (60.7 thousand people)  
- Russians – 0.5% (34.8 thousand people)  
- Turkmen – 0.2% (15.1 thousand people)  

As of December 2022, Turkmenistan’s population was 7,057,841 people.  

According to the latest census, the ethnic breakdown was:  
- Turkmens – 86.7% (6.1 million people)  
- Uzbeks – 642.4 thousand people  
- Russians – 114.4 thousand people  
- Balochs – 87.5 thousand people  
- Azerbaijanis – 26.5 thousand people  
- Kazakhs – 11.8 thousand people
