A man has been detained in Urgench, Khorezm region, for possessing nearly 1 kilogram of opium, the State Security Service reported.
The suspect, a resident of Urgench born in 1983, was found carrying 5 grams of opium. A further search of the apartment he had rented uncovered another 887 grams of opium and 71 grams of heroin, which were seized as evidence.
Investigators said the man had planned to sell the narcotic substances, which he had allegedly brought in from criminal accomplices in a neighboring country.
In a separate case in Fergana region, officers found 2,800 units of the potent drug Regapen, with an estimated value of 140 million soums, at the home of a resident of Fergana district born in 1991. The drugs had reportedly been smuggled earlier from Kyrgyzstan through bypass routes.
Another case was recorded in Tashkent region, where a man born in 1996 and living in Tashkent district, together with an acquaintance — a citizen of Kazakhstan born in 1994 — was detained while selling 300 milliliters of the potent drug Tropicamide to a buyer for $300 and 600,000 soums. According to the report, the substance had previously been smuggled in from Kazakhstan.
In addition, several Pregabalin capsules and bottles containing Tropicamide liquid were seized from the suspects as evidence.
It was established that the individuals had brought psychotropic substances into Uzbekistan by concealing them in containers labeled as different types of medicines.
Criminal cases have been opened in connection with all three incidents, and investigative actions are under way.
It should be recalled that earlier, reports said a large quantity of narcotic substances had been seized in Termiz district, Surkhandarya region.
