In 2025, Uzbekistan will commission 18 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 3.4 thousand megawatts. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this during a ceremony held on December 13 at the International Congress Center, where new energy capacities were launched, and the construction of upcoming energy projects was inaugurated.

It was noted that by 2030, Uzbekistan plans to build an additional 19,000 megawatts of "green power" capacity, aiming to increase the share of renewable energy to 54 percent. As part of this initiative, the country will introduce 18 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 3.4 thousand megawatts, as well as 1.8 thousand megawatts of storage systems, in 2025.

These efforts will result in the production of 12 billion kilowatt-hours of "green energy" next year, which is sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of 5 million households. Additionally, it is estimated that this shift will prevent the release of 6.5 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.

The government also plans to implement a large-scale program over the next two years, aimed at establishing more than 2,000 small and micro-hydroelectric power plants in collaboration with private entrepreneurs. This initiative is expected to further bolster the country’s renewable energy capacity and contribute to its environmental sustainability goals.
