A nurse in Kashkadarya Region has been sentenced to prison for selling a 5-year-old girl twice — first for nearly 20 million soums and later for 15,000 dollars. The information was reported by the press service of the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan.
According to the report, a 32-year-old nurse working at a clinic under the Koson District Medical Association sold a girl born in 2020 to another woman for 19.7 million soums, in agreement with the child’s mother. The nurse later promised to help the buyer obtain a birth certificate for the girl in exchange for a 2 million soum bribe.
Subsequently, she conspired with a 60-year-old man to sell the same girl again to another person for 15,000 US dollars. They were apprehended by law enforcement officers during the transaction.
The case was reviewed by the Koson District Criminal Court. According to the verdict issued on September 17, the nurse was found guilty and sentenced to two years and six months in prison, along with a fine equivalent to 30 times the base calculation amount.
Her accomplice received a three-year restricted freedom sentence under house arrest and was also fined an amount equal to 30 times the base calculation value.
The girl’s condition is reported to be stable — she is currently being cared for at a children’s home in Kitab District.
