VAT exemption for meat and vegetable oil is extended

The period of exemption from turnover value added tax on the import of vegetable oil, sunflower seeds, flax seeds and soybeans to Uzbekistan, as well as production and (or) sale of vegetable oil has been extended until 31 December 2022.  The period of exemption was previously set at 30 April 2022.  This is stated in the law on amendments to the tax code.

According to the amendments, the turnover on the realization (sale) of meat (beef, mutton), live animals (cattle and sheep), their slaughter products and potatoes, as well as the exemption of value added tax upon importation of these products into Uzbekistan has been extended until 31 December 2022.

The exemption from VAT of chicken, frozen fish and live poultry remained unchanged until 30 April 2022.

From 1 January 2022, to 1 January 2031, entrepreneurs in the field of local industry, agriculture, and services in the district of Muynak:

• will pay income, turnover, social, and income taxes at a rate of 1%;
• legal entities will pay a 1% tax on the use of property, land and water resources.

From 1 February 2022, to 1 January 2025, entrepreneurs exporting dyed fabrics, and cloth and ready-sewing and knitting product will pay a social tax of 1 percent.
