German President to visit Uzbekistan

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will begin a five-day trip to Asia on June 15. During the visit, he will travel to Indonesia, the Philippines and Uzbekistan, the press service of the German President reported.

Steinmeier will be accompanied on the trip by his wife, Elke Büdenbender, as well as a delegation of representatives of German business circles.

The final destination of the visit will be Tashkent. There, the German President is expected to familiarize himself with the activities of a branch of the German construction company GP Günter Papenburg.

One of the main topics of the visit will be labor migration and the training of qualified personnel. According to the German side, Uzbekistan has the highest number of German language learners among Asian countries.

During the earlier stages of Steinmeier’s trip, bilateral relations, economic cooperation and social issues will be discussed in Indonesia and the Philippines.
