60-year-old farmer from Fergana found growing 47 poppy plants at home

A 60-year-old resident of Kokand city in the Fergana region was discovered cultivating 47 poppy plants in his yard, the regional Department of Internal Affairs reported.
During the “Qoradori-2025” operation conducted in Kokand, law enforcement officers inspected the home of Y.Kh., a resident of the Ashirkulmergan neighborhood born in 1965. With witnesses present, officers found the poppy plants growing on his property.
The Kokand city Department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 270 of the Criminal Code (cultivation of prohibited crops), and a preliminary investigation is ongoing.
It is worth recalling that earlier, an 85-year-old man in the Kattakorgan district of Samarkand region was arrested for growing 511 narcotic plants in his yard.
