A section of a highway repaired just six months ago in the Bogdod district of the Fergana region collapsed while vehicles were passing. The Fergana Regional Highways Department reported the incident, which occurred on the night of February 24 at the 286th kilometer of the D105 (4R-112) “Fergana Ring” highway.

According to officials, the collapse was triggered by rising water levels in the Fergana canal, located to the right of the highway. The water seeped beneath the roadbed, leading to the subsidence of the asphalt pavement.

As a result, authorities restricted traffic along:

  • 285th kilometer (Kokand-Fergana direction)
  • 288th kilometer (Fergana-Kokand direction)

Traffic has been rerouted through the alternative Bogdod-Dasht-Utarma (Kokand-Fergana) and Yangikurgan-Utarma-Qaqir (Fergana-Kokand) highways, extending the route by 25 kilometers.

Repair work is already in progress, with authorities aiming to restore traffic by 6:00 p.m. on February 24. Despite the high daily traffic volume of 30,000-35,000 vehicles, officials have not reported any casualties.

It is worth noting that this same highway was repaired in August 2024, raising concerns over the durability and quality of road construction in the region.
