Now lawyers do not pay VAT

At the regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, held on 27 December this year, “In connection with the adoption of the main directions of the tax and budget policy for 2023", amendments and additions to some legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan was discussed.

According to the document, the transformation of legal entities into VAT payers by removing Chapter 70 of the Tax Code (Specific features of taxation of Bar associations, law firms, law offices and lawyers)  implied.

Deputies noted that the transformation of lawyers into value-added tax payers will increase the cost of legal assistance provided by them, and decrease the opportunity for citizens and legal entities to receive qualified legal assistance.

The representatives of the people said that the changes and additions to the law may have a negative impact on the activities of lawyers and put forward a proposal to remove it.

After long debates, questions and debates in the lower house, at the suggestion of deputies, Chapter 70 of the Tax Code became non-excludable.
