Crane collapse in Chilanzar claims life of young man (video)

A 25-year-old man died at the scene after a tower crane collapsed on September 8, in Tashkent’s Chilanzar district, the capital’s Main Department of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the report, at around 18:00 on Tirsakabad Street, during the installation of a tower crane at a construction site, safety regulations were not observed. As a result, the crane toppled over, and a 2000-born contract worker, L.A., died at the scene from sustained injuries. In addition, two other contract workers, I.Q., born in 2004, and M.A., born in 2000, were hospitalized with various injuries.

It was reported that the Chilanzar district department of Internal Affairs’ Investigation division has opened a criminal case under Article 257, part 2, paragraphs ’’a’’ and ’’b’’ of the Criminal Code (violation of labor protection rules leading to death or other serious consequences). Investigative procedures are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, five people were swept away in a sewage pipeline in the Bukhara region, and the bodies of three of them had been recovered. The Investigation Department of the Bukhara regional department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case under Article 257, part 2, paragraph ’’a’’ of the Criminal Code (violation of labor protection rules) and has launched a preliminary investigation.
