Governor of the Bukhara region was confirmed again

2298Today, November 6, Botir Zaripov, who has been serving as the governor of Bukhara region, was re-confirmed for this position during the first session of the seventh convocation of the Regional Council of People's Deputies. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.
It was noted that during the session, Botir Komilovich Zaripov was unanimously approved for the role of governor of Bukhara region.
Additionally, the session included a report from the chairman of the regional election commission regarding the results of the elections held on October 27 of this year. Jamal Rajabboyevich Ashurov, a deputy from the 24th Khumdonak electoral district, was elected chairman of the Council of People's Deputies of Bukhara region.
The session also saw the registration of party groups of deputies elected to the Council of People's Deputies of Bukhara region, and the approval of the Regulations of the Regional Council and the Regulations on Standing Committees.
For context, Botir Zaripov was born in 1969 in the Gijduvan district. He has held various positions in the banking sector and, between 2016 and 2020, managed the construction materials industry of the republic. Zaripov was appointed acting governor of the region on November 7, 2020, and in January 2022, he was officially approved as the governor of Bukhara region.
According to legislation, the candidate for the post of regional governor is presented by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with party groups consulted on the nomination. As per Article 2 of the Law "On Local State Power" (Appointment and Dismissal of the Head of Local Executive Authorities), the governor of the region and the city of Tashkent is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. No person can serve as the governor of the same region, district, or city for more than two consecutive terms. Governors serve a term of 5 years. Under Article 123 of the Constitution, regional governors are responsible for implementing the Constitution and laws of Uzbekistan, as well as the decrees, decisions, and orders of the President and Cabinet of Ministers, and ensuring the economic, social, cultural, and ecological development of their regions, including the formation and implementation of local budgets.
It should be noted that Erkinjon Turdimov, former governor of Samarkand region, Jorabek Rahimov, former governor of Khorezm region, Normat Tursunov, former governor of Navoi region, and Ergash Soliyev, former governor of Jizzakh region, were also confirmed in their new positions during recent sessions of the Regional Councils of People's Deputies.
