Uzbekistan aims to expand its electrical industry, increasing production volume to 43 trillion UZS and localizing nearly 5 trillion UZS worth of products this year. This initiative was highlighted during a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on April 22, outlining achievements from the first quarter and upcoming priorities in the sector.
The electrical industry remains one of Uzbekistan’s key economic drivers, with exports growing sevenfold over the past seven years and reaching 63 countries worldwide. The sector now includes nearly 500 enterprises, employing over 27,000 citizens.
In January 2025, Uzbekistan’s President signed a decree aimed at accelerating industry growth through high-value product manufacturing, attracting investments and foreign brands, and advancing engineering research and development.
Over the first three months of the year, 7 trillion UZS worth of electrical products were produced, while exports reached 310 million USD, reflecting a 1.3-fold increase. Investments in the sector totaled 55 million USD, including 48 million USD in direct foreign investments and loans.
"Additionally, a 900 million USD portfolio of projects focused on manufacturing market-driven products under foreign brands has been developed. Efforts are currently underway to coordinate technical processes and establish necessary technologies," the report states.
Looking ahead, Uzbekistan targets a production volume of 43 trillion UZS, with nearly 5 trillion UZS worth of products localized. The government plans to implement 71 projects valued at 656 million USD, creating 4,600 new jobs. Exports are expected to reach 1.7 billion USD, expanding to 68 countries.
"President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of adapting to global economic fluctuations by selecting the right growth trajectory for the sector. He stressed the need for deepening localization, producing high-value products, and training qualified specialists to utilize modern technology," the report states.
Officials have been tasked with working closely with industry enterprises, resolving logistical and production chain issues, and diversifying export markets to secure new business opportunities.
