Bribery and fraud investigation launched against Andijan court official

9038The Supreme Judicial Council of Uzbekistan has confirmed that Yu.E., chairperson of the Khonobod City Criminal Court, Andijan region, is suspected of corruption.
On May 12, the Supreme Judicial Council held a meeting, during which the Prosecutor General’s Office presented a request to hold Yu.E. criminally liable under Article 168 (Fraud) and Article 28,211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code.
After the meeting, the Council granted permission for legal action against Yu.E. and suspended their judicial authority.
"Due to the secrecy of the investigation and the presumption of innocence, further details will not be disclosed at this time," officials emphasized.
Additionally, authorities urged the public to be cautious of exaggerated reports circulating online, stating that the full circumstances of the case will be clarified through the investigation.
Last month, an archivist at the Supreme School of Judges was arrested for accepting a $5,000 bribe to help overturn a restriction placed on a previously convicted individual.
