Renowned Uzbek actor, director, satirical performer and lyricist Sherkozi Gaziev has passed away at the age of 75. The Ministry of Culture reported his death on September 26.
Sherkozi Gaziev was born on May 8, 1950, in the village of Chirkay, Buvayda district, Fergana region. He graduated from the Faculty of Construction at the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute.
In 1971, Gaziev was invited to work as an actor at the Yuldash Akhunboboev Theater of Young Spectators. That same year, he enrolled in the acting department of the Ostrovsky Institute through correspondence, successfully graduating in 1976. Since 1970, he had also been performing roles in the "Theater of Teleminiatures." His passion for art later led him to the Uzbek State Philharmonic, where he began working in 1978.
In 1990, Gaziev appeared as a zootechnician in the film "King of the Jungle," a joint production between Uzbekistan and India. In 1992, he founded the "Sherkhan" studio, and in collaboration with Indian partners, directed the comedy film "Sherkhan the Tractor Driver" in 2006 and the melodrama "You Are Not Alone" in 2008.
It is worth noting that earlier, prominent film and television operator and director Batir Zholdasovich Bazarbayev also passed away at the age of 70.
