Penalties for information technology fraud have been increased

Liability for committing fraud using information technology has been increased. The relevant law was signed by the President of Uzbekistan yesterday 19 October.
According to the amendments introduced by the law to the Criminal Code, responsibility for committing fraud using information systems, including information technologies, has been increased.
Now, this act is punishable by a fine of 300 to 400 times the BHM or 2 to 3 years of correctional work or deprivation of liberty for 5 to 8 years with deprivation of certain rights.
Liability for disrespectful treatment of objects of material cultural heritage was included in the Code of Administrative Responsibility.
This offense is punishable by 15 days of administrative detention or a fine of 20 to 30 times the BHM in aggravated cases.
