Young man jailed for liking Abdullah domla’s lecture six years ago

Reports have circulated on social media claiming that a young man was imprisoned for ’’liking’’ a lecture by Abdugani Umarov, known as Abdulloh domla, posted six years ago. The Surkhandarya regional courts have issued a statement on the matter.

According to the report, the defendant U.A., using an account on the “Odnoklassniki.ru” messenger installed on his phone, in 2019 pressed ’’like’’ on a lecture by Abdugani Umarov titled ’’Lovers of paradise’’, which was described as containing extremist ideas. By doing so, he allegedly shared it with his virtual contacts.

This act was deemed a violation of Article 244, part 3, paragraph ’’g’’ of the Criminal Code (preparation, storage, distribution or display of materials threatening public security and public order).

On July 1, 2025, the Kumkurgan district criminal court found U.A. guilty under Article 244, part 3, paragraph ’’g’’ and, applying Article 57 of the Criminal Code, sentenced him to three years of imprisonment to be served in a general-regime colony.

It was noted that, since the crime is classified as a serious offense, the court imposed a prison sentence.

’’Nevertheless, taking into account the mitigating circumstances, Article 57 of the Criminal Code was applied to him, and a sentence lower than the sanction prescribed by the article was imposed,’’ the report stated.

It is worth noting that earlier, a young man who had created a Telegram group and distributed materials of an extremist and radical nature in it was imprisoned in the Samarkand region.
