Hududgazta’minot JSC has issued an official response following reports circulating on social media that the company purchased three expensive electric vehicles despite having a large outstanding debt.

According to the reports, the company purchased two BYD ATTO 8 vehicles for more than 1 billion soums and one BYD Song Plus vehicle for nearly 400 million soums.

In its official statement, the company said the purchase was made in accordance with Presidential Resolution No. 443 titled “On measures to provide state support for organizing the production of electric vehicles in the Republic of Uzbekistan.”

“Under the resolution, government bodies, local authorities, and enterprises with a state share of 50 percent or more are allowed to purchase electric and hybrid vehicles within established vehicle allocation standards, based on target indicators for 2023–2025,” the statement said.

The joint-stock company noted that, in order to ensure the implementation of this resolution, it is gradually replacing its service vehicles with environmentally friendly “green” vehicles.

According to data from the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement, Hududgazta’minot JSC’s total debt currently exceeds 575 billion soums.
